The following reviews are from campgrounds, RV resorts, truck stops and casinos (for those blacktop boondocking) that we have visited during our travels. They will be listed in no particular order, yet will be listed with the nearest city first for those interested in stopping.
Greenwood, Southern Living RV Park – This RV park is located just off I-20 (exit 5) in Louisiana. It is a small park with a handful of pull-thrus near the entrance for quick check-in. Although the park has no Cable TV, we did get a few digital antenna stations. WiFi is available with a code from the office.
There is a Dollar General store directly across the street, so if you are overnighting, it is a great place to pick up extra milk or groceries without unhooking or navigating traffic in the rig.

Shreveport, Flying J – This Flying J is located off 1-20 (exit 3) in Louisiana. This is one of those Flying J’s that you can’t even attempt to use the RV Island because a local (or two) have blocked them with their vehicles and went inside to eat. During this stop we used the truck pumps in the back. Unfortunately ours pumped short and we had to wait for someone to come and reset it… and of course, it stopped short again after a few cents. The cashier argued with us that nothing was wrong (even the man who came out to fix it had to radio for help as it wasn’t a problem he had dealt with before) with the pump. The restrooms were very dirty and the store very cluttered. We won’t stop at this Flying J again. Fortunately there is a Loves at this exit as well.

West Monroe, Pilot – This Pilot is located off 1-20 (exit 112) in Louisiana. It is really easy on/off for the truck pumps. The restrooms were clean, although the store was a little cluttered during our visit. Inside they have a Subway and Wendy’s.
Fuel along this stretch was a little higher than what we had been paying though.
There is a campground across the road from Pilot, called the Pavilion RV Park. We didn’t stop, but saw it was very convenient to get to.

Beaux Bridge, Pilot – This Pilot is located off bumpy 1-10 (exit 109) in Louisiana. It makes a great stop for getting off the highway for a few hours. Anything to stop the rib cage from vibrating!
Big Rigs need to pump with the trucks, which is better than hassling with the cars in at the front pumps. There is plenty of overnight parking in the truck area. The only thing to keep in mind is must make a left-turn and rigs will probably lined up to make the turn or trying to get back out on the main road.
This Pilot has an Arby’s and a casino inside. And for those in need of supplies, a Super Walmart is located right beside the truck parking area!

Deham Springs (Baton Rouge), Baton Rouge KOA – This KOA is located just off I-12 (exit 10) in Louisiana. It is not easy to find off the highway, so follow their directions carefully.
The campground appears compact, but it truly is Big Rig friendly! All the sites are paved and the park features all the modern amenities. The Cable TV lineup is broad and the WiFi signal is great at your site. The laundry is a bit limited though, yet the outdoor laundry area worked well for us.
There is also mini-golf, a pool and activities in-season. The campground is located just minutes from historic sites, casinos and the zoo. One of the largest Bass Pro Shops is located just down the road from the campground and the staff will encourage you to visit it during your stay. DO NOT take your rig! Bass Pro Shop has entrance gates to prevent tall vehicles from parking in the main parking lot. They do have RV parking advertised in the back lot; however, when we drove our rig (about 53’) back there, we quickly found ourselves trapped with cars and delivery trucks. We are uncertain why they think that is RV accessible, but it is certainly not for folks with Big Rigs.
This is one of the nicer KOAs we have stayed at and look forward to returning someday.

Kinder, Red River RV Resort – I shouldn’t be telling you about this RV resort, because it’s a great hideaway! Located off of I-10 (exit 44) – about twenty miles from the main highway.
The resort is a part of the casino and shuttle buses will pick you up at your campsite. The sites are all paved and truly Big Rig friendly! There are modern amenities (however Cable TV is rather limited) and plenty of gaming action and restaurants located inside the casino.
Kinder is not a big town but does have a Market Basket grocery, although there is a small gas station with supplies located on the casino property if you don’t want to unhook (you can take the casino shuttle that way). If you are in need of major supplies, a Super Walmart is located about 25 miles northbound on Hwy. 165.

La Place (SW of New Orleans), Pilot – This Pilot is located off 1-10 (exit 209) in Louisiana. It makes a great stop for getting fuel and food. However, it is a very busy stop!
There is not a great deal of parking at this one, so if you want to overnight, make sure you get there before the truckers pull over for the night.
This Pilot has a Subway inside and a McDonald’s in the parking lot.

Eunice, Walmart SuperCenter – This Walmart is located directly off of Hwy. 190, between bigger highways 49 and I-10.
We did not see any “No overnight” signage, so I would ask at before planning to stay. It is not a very busy Walmart and we found it a great place to load up on supplies. Everyone was friendly and prices were pretty much in line with major cities.
There are several other businesses in the plaza, including a Dollar Tree.

QUICK NOTE: As we recently traveled along I-12 between Exits 7 – 10 – there is a lot of construction and it is worse during rush hour traffic. So if you are taking this route, don’t get in a hurry.

NOTE: If you need a break from the bump-da-bump of I-10, there is a nice info center with restrooms at Exit 121. Also a great stop to check inside the RV for opened cabinets!
