PLEASE NOTE: Reviews prior to 2006 have been completely removed. As of June 2011, I will add casinos to my listings for those wishing to blacktop boondock.
RENO (Verdi), Reno KOA at BoomTown – This campground is located right off I-80 (Exit 4) just West of Reno. The nice thing about this location is you don’t have to drive into Reno if you want to gamble or enjoy a buffet. BoomTown Casino is located a short distance from the KOA and free shuttle service is provided to the casino and the nearby Cabela’s.
This KOA has all the standard amenities – Cable TV, WiFi, laundry, etc… Each time we have stayed here we have had no problems with service or park features. In fact, we have actually found ourselves having to stay there longer on one account, because sections of US 395 were closed to RVs (high-profile vehicles) because of High Wind Advisories.
Twice when we visited the KOA has a bike group come in and if you are there during that weekend, you may find it a little noisier than usual. Other times we have had no problem with visiting this one.

LAS VEGAS, Sam’s Town Casino & RV Park (both locations) - If you find yourself in Las Vegas and are not wanting to unhook or even attempt to park your tow around town, then this is the place for you. Located right beside Sam’s Town Casino, you can walk to the casino. And if you just don’t want to gamble, there is plenty more to do – from bingo to buffets to watching movies at the theater inside!
Sam’s Town offers a courtesy shuttle service to other casinos downtown. So if you want to shop or view the lights at night, this is a great way to do it without driving.
And a plus is a Walmart is located right across the street!
Sam’s Town has a second park (Nellis RV) located a short block from the casino. This one is more for extended stays. We have stayed at both at various times and have had no problems. If you stay at the Nellis one, you will have a brief walk to the casino though.
If you are arriving during a peak time, you may want to call ahead for availability. This is a very popular place, esp. with Full-Timers wanting a little vacation.

WELLS, Angel Lake RV Park – This is a quaint campground off 1-80 (Exit 351) that offers a great view of the mountains and scenic Old West. We were amazed to find such a clean and quite campground in a semi-remote area. Especially one with Cable TV and WiFi!
