Yuma Territorial Prison Cemetary

Yuma Territorial Prison Cemetary

One of the must-see sites of Yuma, Arizona is the Yuma Territorial Prison. If you have seen the recent movie 3:10 TO YUMA or have ever read a western, then you are aware of the history of this prison. It is a rather interesting stop (although hard to find as it is located behind a railroad track and bridge) and a reminder of the past.  I personally found the prison cemetary the highlight of the stop. Overlooking the river, the cemetary graves are piled rocks. A marker in the cemetary identifies all those buried there.

Another site to see in Arizona is, of course, London Bridge at Lake Havasu. In season, this area really is rather congested, but well worth the stop. This area is conjested in the winter time as many seasonal head to Lake Havasu, Quartzsite, Blythe and Yuma for the season.

After driving through what seems an endless desert… you find yourself near Parker, Arizona to a beautiful sea of blue and green. The contrast from the surrounding landscape is amazing and it is surprising to see boats and signs for marinas.
