A nice little picnic stop along I-10 in Texas, between El Paso and Fort Stockton. This is quite a long drive (but hey, Texas is a big state!) and you should keep your fuel tank at least half full, especially if you have a larger rig like we did. Outside of El Paso, heading eastbound, there are not that many truck stops until you get closer to San Antonio – which is almost a three day drive for most folks.
An interesting thing to note is that the speed limit along this stretch of highway is 80 miles per hour!

Canyon Lake Dam
One of the places we visited is the resort town of Canyon Lake. The dam is the perfect place for a walk (about a mile) and there is a nice community park to take a picnic lunch. The view from the dam offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

- Guadalupe River
One of our favorite sites in Texas is the amazing views along the Guadalupe and Comal rivers. This region, just east of San Antonio, is a summer hotspot for toobers and river-goers. During the fall, the foliage and fishing are the excuse to head to the river.

- Along the Comal River
Of course, Texas is… well a “Texas-sized” state! So there are many places to to explore and sites to see.
