The largest museum in Alaska is located in Anchorage. The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center is definitely a must see if you find yourself in this beautiful city! I can’t tell you how many hours I spent touring the art, history and culture of Alaska here. Admission is a bit high for families (although well worth the price), but they do have free/discounted days. Watch their website for details. There is public and lot parking available, however most are metered or carry a small fee.
Another thing to do is take the trolley tour. While on the trolley, we encountered moose and had to stop for them. I never realized they were so huge until I was looking out the window at one.
