Worth a trip! From amazing scenery to an appreciation of the regions early settlers.

You have no doubt read about the Donner Party, a group of early pioneers that suffered a tragic loss in the late 1840s. Donner Memorial State Park in Truckee (CA) hosts the Emigrant Trail Museum. The museum has a variety of displays and information about one the Donner Party.

The park has a minimal day-use fee and also has hiking trails, campground and boat ramp access to Donner Lake. However, be aware that there is a maximum length for RVs. Weather can also be a factor in this region, so consult their website before you go and can plan travel accordingly.

Donner Memorial State Park is located right of I-80 in Truckee. It is just a short trip from Reno (NV). If you find yourself in this region, you really should plan a trip. This is one of the most scenic and unforgettable routes we have been on… again and again! 🙂
