We have traveled all over the country via highways, so it is always fun to take a train excursion when we can. So while in the Ozarks we visited the Branson Scenic Railway in the downtown Branson area. It’s a forty-mile round-trip train ride and you don’t know which direction you will head until you board the train. Unfortunately, our excursion headed northbound and we didn’t see very much in the way of scenery. (See photo below). Apparently the southern rail (to Arkansas) is a little more scenic. Although we did see some wildlife, including birds-of-prey and deer.

Tickets are over $25 each and are on a first-come basis. So if you want to ride the dome cars or the recliner areas, be sure to reserve early. Parking near the railway is limited, although there is plenty of parking within the block. If you have a Big Rig, you my want to park at Branson Landing, near Bass Pro Shop.
